HEALING ARTS

Works of art are mere things until we begin to carefully perceive and interpret them—then they become alive and enliven us as we reflect upon, wonder about, and respond to them. When we choose to interpret out loud to others who want to hear us, we become active participants in public life rather than passive observers, moving toward community and away from isolation. Our Mission

The Red Well Theater Group contributes to the professional development of psychotherapists through educational presentations featuring dramatic play readings, small group process experiences, clinically informed commentaries and moderated audience discussions. Our mission is to illustrate principles of group therapy and to illuminate themes of mutual recognition and communal wellbeing in and beyond the therapy group. We share a love of theater and a commitment to dynamic group therapy, approaching each discipline as a healing art, more similar than different.

OUR PRESENTATION FORMAT

A Red Well Theater Group presentation includes a brief introduction of the selected play’s thematic relevance to the group therapy enterprise. With no props or stage movement, the presentation is akin to a ‘radio play’, with the actors interactively, vocally portraying their characters for full dramatic effect.…
